85-year-old lady dies three weeks after canine assault on Island of Hawaii

PUNA (HawaiiNewsNow) – On the Island of Hawaii, the elderly Puna woman who was attacked by several dogs last month died of her injuries.

Family members identified her as 85-year-old Dolores Oskins. She died at Hilo Medical Center on Sunday – three weeks after the incident.

She was bitten on August 14 while looking for her lost dog in Hawaiian Paradise Park. Dogs from a nearby property attacked her and bit her head, neck and arms.

Her elderly husband and one other family member were also injured while trying to get the dogs off her.

The two dogs were confiscated by Hawaii Animal Control Officers.

The police say they are still investigating the case and are forwarding their findings to the prosecutor.
