HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii reported 615 new COVID infections and two additional deaths on Saturday as hospital admissions continue to surge in the state.
The two deaths both occurred on Oahu. One was a man in his 70s who was hospitalized with underlying medical conditions. The other was a woman in her 70s who was also hospitalized with underlying medical conditions.
According to the DOH, the death toll from the virus is 542.
From the new cases Saturday:
- 415 were on Oahu
- 101 in Island of Hawaii
- 65 on Maui
- Two on Molokai
- 17 on Kauai
In addition to these cases, 15 infections have been reported outside of the state.
The total number of cases since the pandemic began has risen to 45,860.
In the past 14 days, the state has reported 5,150 cases
Meanwhile, Green reported 195 active COVID hospital admissions nationwide.
The positivity rate in Hawaii is 6.98%.
The state does not report the vaccination status of people with COVID on a daily basis.
About 60.6% of the state’s population are fully vaccinated, while 67.8% have received at least one dose.
