Hawaii Studies 218 New COVID Infections; four extra deaths

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii reported 218 new COVID-19 infections on Sunday, bringing the total number of infections since the pandemic started to 81,501.

Hawaii also reported four more coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the death toll to 841.

The state no longer releases details on a daily basis about where COVID deaths have occurred, what age groups they are, and whether the deceased had underlying illnesses. This information is now only published weekly.

Of the new infections reported on Sunday:

  • 121 were on Oahu
  • 34 on the Island of Hawaii
  • 16 on Maui
  • 28 on Kauai
  • 1 on Molokai

18 residents outside of the state were also diagnosed.

About 69.3% of the state’s population are fully vaccinated, while 77.5% have received at least one dose.
