Kamehameha-Hawaii, Hawaii Prep within the State Volleyball Semis

Tonight in the semifinals of the New City Nissan / Hawaii High School Athletic Association State Volleyball Championships, two schools on the Island of Hawaii are competing for their first appearance in a championship game.

In Division I, Kamehameha-Hawaii dropped the first set against reigning national champion Kamehameha-Kapalama 23-25, but fought back to defeat their sister school from Oahu by scoring the second, third and fourth sets with 25- 23, 25 won -15 and 25-20.

Evan Enriques led all the players to three blocks with 34 kills for Kamehameha-Hawaii, while Daniel Aina Jr. collected 47 assists and four blocks.

The third-placed Warriors will meet Na Menehune from Moanalua, the runner-up of the tournament, at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at McKinley High School’s Student Council Gymnasium, with the winner moving into the championship game on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Hawaii Preparatory Academy exchanged sets with Waimea, but won the most important set, the fifth, in the semi-finals of Division II. The set values ​​were 25-17, 24-26, 25-17, 17-25 and 15-8.
