Honolulu (KHON2) – Two Kailua mothers created Hawaii’s first line of fresh, organic baby foods called Healthy Baby Hawaii.
“Baby food should be in the refrigerator, not on a shelf,” say co-founders Alyson Akina & Nicole Dodson. “We thought there had to be a better way, and that’s how Healthy Baby Hawaii was born. Our mission is to help parents feed their Keiki healthy and nutritious while reducing the stress of shopping and cooking. “
Local products like kalo, dragon fruit or even ulu are used in weekly flavors and textures like turmeric and cardamom.
“The greatest thing that sets us apart is our small batch production. We bake, steam and cook just like at home, ”explain Aly and Nicole. “So that baby food can stand on a shelf, it has to be processed at high temperatures and kill many vital nutrients, which is neither good for the food nor for your baby!”
You can order from the website https://www.healthybabyhawaii.com/.
You can buy à la carte or choose the monthly subscription option which allows you to deliver baby / toddler formula for free every week.
Oahu deliveries are twice a week (Tuesday and Saturday) with pickup options at their Kailua store. They work hard to make frozen products and deliver them to all the islands and eventually the mainland.
This month, Healthy Baby Hawaii is participating in the Hawaii Food Drive. They will collect donations from customers during deliveries and drop them off at their Kailua store for days. They will also donate a portion of September sales as well as products to families in need during this difficult time.
